Turtle Steak and Conch Chowder

Had lunch at the Grand Old Plantation with a professor visiting on a strategic planning seminar.

We both had turtle steaks and conch chowder. Conch chowder reminded me of venison chili where the tough venison was ground rather than cubed.

Turtle tastes like a cross between lamb and dark meat turkey...actually fairly close to dark meat turkey that has sat in a frig a day or two. Lots of other people say it tastes like other things....by the way...Cayman farm raised turtle and conch collected in season by local harvesters...as eco-friendly as seafood can be...which is very eco-friendly...I try to eat imported Tilapia...which I stir fry. It's a junk fresh water fish that grows in small ponds that can be warm and even dirty...but it tastes good. Eating non-farm-raised seafood should probably be a 2 times a year sort of thing from what I've been told.
