Tarpon, Jerk Chicken, and stars

I crossed through the cemetery in the hours just before dark. That is the best time of day on Cayman. Sunsets, walks, peace. The cruise ships were backing out in their strange way...all lit up for dinner. Tidal pools held small creatures and behind the restaurant called The Wharf I saw some tarpon the owner has taken to feeding as pets. Three feet long...these monsters of the reef are prized by saltwater fly fishermen.

Further down I walked through an apartment complex by their grill and pool on the ocean and into Captain Mike's bakery and jerk chicken (of Jamaica)....mon. Jerk chick, fries, some unknown slaw/salad and a (diet) coke...10 bucks cayman. Very good.

Walking home I stopped to watch the Philippino basketball (amateur) league game. There are about 4,000 Philippinoes here for reasons that somehow tie to shipping. The commentary was in Tagalog and English (of a sort). The basketball was surprisingly fine...with lots of ham boning and laughing spectators. Good stuff.

At my door I noticed Orion overhead high in the sky with Mars not too far away.

A sunday.
