"Zinc" not "tin" roofs.

In the U.S. south corregated steel roofs are sometimes referred to as "tin" roofs. Nearly always steel, they are made waterproof by dipping them in zinc under an electric current. The process is called "galvanization."

Here the term is more appropriately "zinc roofs" or zinc-roofed cottage. The decor inside is typically island/British colonial casual with lots of white gloss paint, bright colors, high ceilings, ceiling fans, painted wooden parrots and such.
